It appears that photoblogging has made it into mainstream blogging. A new site called Twitxr launched today by FON through their FON labs division. With Twitxr you can share a moment, photo, a thought instantly with your mobile phone. One of the features I noticed right away is that Twitxr allows you automatically post items to your Twitter and Facebook profile.
While it is specially designed for the Apple iPhone, Nokia (Symbian) and Android will soon be supported.
“It looks like you can’t simply grab a photo that you’ve taken normally from the iPhone, either. You have to initiate the photo through the Twitxr application. The application automatically adds location information to your photos and updates. “ - TechCrunch
Twitxr is yet another variation of Twitter (think Jaiku, Pownce). In order to use Twitxr on your iPhone you must jailbreak (lifehacker link) your phone in order to install the Twitxr software. Twitxr is still in beta and you can sign up and give the service a try. Be sure to read the iPhone native client installation instructions.
I think though until there is support for more phones than iPhone, Twitxr is going to be more of a novelty than anything.
