Word has it that Technorati shifting its strategy to blog advertising. According to TechCrunch, Technorati has raised over $20 million in funding and the new CEO Richard Jalichandra is changing the sites focus to its core audience.
“Technorati has also considered other strategies recently, including a blog rollup. But our understanding is that they’ve gone with the ad network idea, and are currently focusing engineers on finalizing the product.” - TechCrunch
I personally can see why Technorati is moving into blog advertising. The site commands a large following and is the *standard* in blog search. With the exploding advertising sales on the Internet, it is only natural for Technorati to innovate and get a piece of this market.
Technorati will face much competition in the blog advertising niche, however I feel that Technorati will rise to the occasion.
