You know it a slow social news week when

10 – FriendFeed posts about their search feature.
(boring and lame news)

9 – Valleywag posts yet another story about gaming Digg
(I posted very something similar in Feb.)

8 - News posts that still refer to "MicroHoo"
(that term is so last week. Be original for once with your news filler)

7 – 50 stories are posted about Yahoo Buzz being a Digg killer
(including mine)

6 – Posts about ReadBurner being a conflict of Interest for Mashable
(Conflict? give me a break)

5 – CBS touts their feed widgets to bloggers
(great another $$$ making widget for bloggers)

4 – Newspapers try to figure out how to make readers pay
(like that is going to work)

3 – News about Blogger & Podcaster Magazine launching ad network
(great another brilliant money making scheme for bloggers, like there weren’t a gazillion of them already)

2 – News that Yahoo has lost its way
(umm did these guys just wake up from a coma?)

1 – Lists like this appear on Monday evening – What do you expect, it’s a slow news week. (Hey, at least you got your news in a nutshell today)

0 - (extra) There is a top 10 list on the lack of interesting news stories

I can't entirely agree as the search feature is a big deal for FriendFeed. It is a big deal because they did not have one :)

I do think it is inexcusable for people to keep reporting the "Yahoo lost its way" or "MicroHoo" articles. If there is a nugget of info from some informal talk, then report it. But the typical speculation does not help anyone.

Also, you need a #0. There is a top 10 list on the lack of interesting news stories.

Some weeks are busier than others, but I gotta agree with Rob, the Microsoft-Yahoo stuff has gotta stop.

People are just trying to make news by making new rumors, right now as far as I know there isn't much more happening with that actually holds true merit. Rumors are great and all, but without merit, you got nothing. Besides even if Microsoft does buy Yahoo in the end, Google will still be king. Yahoo may be the #1 visited site, but I still believe Google produces better search results than both Live and Yahoo combined.

Yeah I agree the Microhoo thing is wearing thin. It was funny for about 2 minutes then it got on my nerves.

Google is definitely the king of relevant and fresh search results.
